The University is currently seeking approval to change name to University of the West of Scotland. We anticipate a decision on the name change later this year.
About Us
The Centre for Academic & Professional Development works to enhance and develop learning and teaching across the University. In particular, we:
- promote reflective pedagogic practice and engagement with learning and teaching research,
- run the PgCert in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education and support staff who aim to gain membership of Higher Education Academy,
- help the academic Schools in providing high quality learning support to students, including advice on key skills and effective learning,
- promote an inclusive curriculum through projects such as Teachability,
- in partnership with the University ICT service, support the University's Blackboard virtual learning environment, and promote the development of elearning,
- take a lead in promoting and supporting innovation and research in learning and teaching, including hosting conferences and developing projects (such as the ISLE Project)
