New Ayr Campus

Investing in your future

Following the granting of full planning consent and approval for land transfer from South Ayrshire Council, work on the new Ayr Campus commenced in September 2009. The campus opened in August 2011.

In tandem with the Ayr Campus development,  the University commissioned a new student residences development in Ayr to coincide with the opening of the new campus.

The £70m development was a collaboration between University of the West of Scotland and Scottish Agricultural College and demonstrates our continuing commitment to the provision of higher education in Ayrshire.

Designed by award-winning architects RMJM, the new building has achieved the award of a ‘BREEAM Excellent’ rating from the British Research Establishment, at design stage, and have committed to achieving full BREEAM Excellent rating post construction. Find out more about the BREEAM rating..

RMJM's design for the academic facility was inspired by the building's woodland setting and is focused around a series of external 'garden classrooms' which flow into the new building to create the entrance courtyard, a central atrium and a more private library courtyard space.

The new campus will create an exceptional academic environment in a truly unique setting.
