We want you to get the very best out of the years you spend with us, which is why we have a comprehensive range of services designed to support students of all backgrounds, nationalities and study levels, both in and out of the lecture room to help you make the move from school, home or work to University. We offer a range of services across all four campuses that have a single focus – you.
Support available includes:
- placement and study abroad advice
- personal tutor system for advice on study options
- mentoring system for new, first-time students
- finance and advice service – help with funding and scholarships; advocacy and negotiation with external agencies; money management; housing and benefit issues
- counselling – talk in confidence about any issues that affect you
- advice on balancing everyday life with study
- help with finding part-time/summer work to boost your income
- Careers Service – help throughout your time at University, including choosing your course, CV/interview advice, and much more

Students with disabilities or special needs
Applications from students who have disabilities or special needs are considered on the same academic grounds as all others. Applicants are advised to discuss their support requirements with the appropriate Admissions contact for each school.
Applicants are also strongly advised to contact staff for information and advice about the support, facilities, and resources available. It is important that the University is notified of students’ disabilities in advance, to enable individual support mechanisms to be put in place prior to commencement of studies.
