Principal's Welcome

"The merger of the University of Paisley and Bell College on the
1 August 2007 has created Scotland’s biggest, modern University, with over 20,000 students.  Our vision is of an internationally-recognised University, serving the communities of the West and South-West of Scotland, and we are committed to engaging in meaningful partnerships with stakeholders, including major employing organisations, in order to make a strong contribution to building a knowledge-based economy for Scotland.

We provide a distinctive educational experience across our four campuses in Ayr, Dumfries, Hamilton and Paisley, through a range of vocationally related courses, supported by our strong applied research and knowledge transfer activities.

Good facilities, both academic and social, are needed to support the student learning experience at university and that is why we have invested over £14 million on these in recent years – and we have very ambitious development plans, that will involve capital expenditure of more than £250 million across our 4 campuses over the next 5 to 10 years.

We are delighted to welcome students from a wide range of backgrounds, ages and countries onto our courses and the blend of students that we have here at the University is an integral part of the very stimulating, challenging, and we believe, inspirational, educational experience that we provide."
