CENTRE FOR CRIMINAL JUSTICE AND POLICE STUDIES

The Centre for Criminal Justice and Police Studies has developed out of the Scottish Centre for Police Studies, formed in 2003 to take forward the Hamilton Campus’s long association with the Scottish Police Service in the field of policing research and education.  As well as continuing to research and publish on various aspects of Scottish policing, the staff of the Centre also have research interests in the Scottish criminal justice system, prisons, money-laundering and asset recovery, and youth justice.  In addition to these activities , the Centre is also active in providing opportunities for continuing professional development, consultancy and practitioner research.

Scottish Polymer Development Centre

This state-of-the-art facility, established in 1997, aims to provide specific support to the Polymer processing industry in Scotland.

Consultancy and development work is undertaken in conjunction with industry/individuals including the design and manufacture of prototype tools for the injection moulding process, design and manufacture of automated systems and material/component testing.

Scottish Biotechnology Training Centre

The Biotechnology Centre, in conjunction with its S.C.B.C. partners, is recognised as a leading training provider for the Biotechnology Industry in Scotland. In 2004 the Consortium (thus the Biotechnology Centre) has been given accredited status by the GTC for Scotland as a deliverer of CPD for schoolteachers.

The Biotechnology Centre can offer a range of services from consultancy (bioburden testing, process management) to short courses of varying duration (1 to 6 days) in the following areas - Good Laboratory Practice, Cell Culture, PCR, Safety in Microbiology, Monoclonal Antibody Production.
