Charlie Pinder Lecture

Charlie Pinder, a leading player in the UK music industry, delivered a public lecture on ‘The Changing Face of the Music Business’ at University of the West Scotland’s Paisley Campus on Tuesday 31 March 2009.

This lecture, which was part of the University’s Inspiring People lecture series, saw Pinder give a fascinating insight into the UK music industry.

Charlie Pinder, who is the former MD of Sony ATV Music and former Director of A&R at V2 Records, has over 15 years of experience in the music industry. In 2007 he set up Riot Act Management and Riot Act Music, a new venture in artist management and music publishing.

He has a reputation in the music industry for discovering some of the UK’s best new musical talent and has either personally signed or been instrumental in the development of the careers of Travis, KT Tunstall, Razorlight, Catatonia, Sleeper and Katie Melua. He has also worked with a number of established songwriters and artists, including Cat Stevens, Pet Shop Boys, Gary Barlow, Erasure, Manic Street Preachers, Oasis and Everything But The Girl.

A University of the West of Scotland spokesperson said: “We were delighted that Charlie Pinder delivered this public lecture. This event gave members of the public the chance to gain a fascinating insight into the UK music scene and the way in which it has changed in recent years.”
