50 Years of Social Science

Former students and staff from the Department of Social Studies/Science are invited to join the University on Thursday 9th February 2017 at UWS Paisley Campus, to celebrate 50 years of Social Science Education.

In session 1966-1967, the Department of Social Studies was created to organise the then Paisley College of Technology's teaching and research in the social sciences. The department was responsible for the BA Social Studies degree and would go on to develop programmes with specialisms in Social Work, Administration, Public Policy, Social Theory and postgraduate programmes in Careers Guidance and Alcohol Studies. Today our Social Science and Creative and Cultural portfolios have been brought together in the new School of Media, Culture & Society.

6.00pm Drinks and canapés in the mezzanine above the main reception.
6.15pm Welcome from UWS Vice-Chancellor and Principal Professor Craig Mahoney.
6.30pm 50 years of teaching social science at the University.
7.30pm Thank you and close.

The dress code is business casual with parking available on-campus via our Lady Lane entrance.
