Your exam results
Here’s some help for when you receive your results, depending on your situation:
Confirmation of your place
If you have firmly accepted your Unconditional offer (UFA) at University of the West of Scotland, UCAS will send you a Confirmation letter in the post. This letter confirms that you have officially gained a place at UWS and will shortly receive induction and enrolment information. Congratulations!
Clearing
When you get your results, you may find that you didn't get the grades you needed or you might have done better than expected. This is when Clearing can help you. Clearing allows you to look around for a new course of study to start this year.
You can take part in Clearing if you have already applied through UCAS and you are in one of the following categories:
- You have not received any offers
- You have declined all your offers or not responded by the due date
- Your offers have not been confirmed because you have not met the conditions (eg you have not achieved the required grades)
- You have declined a changed course, a changed date of entry and/or changed point of entry offer
- You applied for one course which has been declined/unsuccessful and you have paid the full £17 fee
- We received your application after 30 June 2009.
What DO I need to do?
If you have already applied through UCAS and only made a single choice on your original application, you can pay a further £10 and apply for other places through Electronic Clearing. Once you register for Electronic Clearing your Clearing Number is displayed on the 'Welcome' and 'Choices' page on UCAS Track. When you contact us we will ask you for your Clearing Number to confirm that you can be considered for Clearing.
Please note, as A-Level results are being processed by UCAS at the moment, the UCAS online Track system will not be accessible until Thursday 20 August. In the meantime, to make any additions or changes to your UCAS application, or to get an update on your status, contact the UCAS customer service team on 0871 4680468.
