Take Your Studies Higher

Picture of female student in iMac Lab Every year, many college students progress to degree study at the University. Our strong links with further education colleges help us ensure that the majority of our courses offer opportunities for progression from HNC/HND qualifications (or equivalent) directly into the second and third years of related degree courses.

Supporting You

We also offer excellent support facilities for those transferring to university from college, including our three-day induction programme. We understand that transferring from college to university can be daunting, but with the help and support we provide, you'll get off to a flying start.

Teaching and learning techniques, class sizes, examination methods and even your circle of friends may all change when you start university. That's why you will be assigned a personal tutor to help and advise on all matters relating to your course and university experience. The University's induction programme provides practical advice on essay writing and exam techniques, highlights social events where you can meet new friends, and provides information on the range of support you can expect, to make sure you can concentrate on your studies.

Next Steps at University....

To make it easier for you to get to grips with university-style education, we offer an innovative module, Next Steps at University, for college students. The module introduces the study styles and skills required for university and deals with other issues college students can expect to encounter during their time at university. It is delivered at all of the University's campuses.

  • Next Steps at University is suitable for students studying in all disciplines and will both ease the transition from College to Higher Education and enhance preparation for graduate employment.
  • All college students, whether they plan to study on a full-time or part-time basis, are eligible for the module.
  • The module is offered as part of the University's summer study programme, and is usually taught on Tuesday evenings between June to August.
  • 'Next Steps at University' is of real benefit to those considering a course at any university.

Further information on Next steps at University is available from University Direct, Tel: 0800 027 1000 or by completing our contact form.
