Europe

ERASMUS Programme

Exchange of students in Europe is administered by the EU funded Erasmus programme. The Programme was introduced in 1987 to promote student exchanges in the EU and its success has led to nearly 1.5 million students taking part.

Students from the University have a choice around 80 partner institutions across 16 countries. These partnerships allow you to study for a period of up to 12 months. Your studies are fully accredited as part of your degree programme and financial assistance is given by the EU.

Academic Recognition

Under Erasmus, UWS students can spend time studying at one of our partner institutions in Europe and gain academic credit for it as part of their degree.

There is plenty of flexibility in deciding what country and institution you wish to study in, as long as the subjects taught at the partner match those you study here.

Money Matters

Finance may be available in the form of a Student Mobility Grant to help with living expenses whilst studying abroad. The actual figure you receive is dependent on the length of time abroad and the cost of living in your host country.

Further Information

To find out more on studying in Europe or to apply, why not speak to your course leader or contact the University's Study Abroad Coordinator, who can provide more detail on any aspect of studying abroad and help you apply.

Gregg White
Business

“I studied at HES, Amsterdam School of Business for six months. I chose to go on exchange for the life experience.

I enjoyed the independence of living away from home and the excitement of living and studying with people from many different cultures, including students from South America and Turkey.

It has benefited me in many ways. I’ve improved my communication skills and, most certainly, my future job prospects. When I graduate, I will be attractive to prospective employers not only because of my degree in Marketing, but also because I have had the enthusiasm to live and study in a foreign country and prove that I have the ability to adapt.”
