UWS Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Craig Mahoney and Vice-Principal (International) Professor Jeanne Keay will be visiting China in November and will be hosting an evening reception for alumni on Monday 2 November 2015, 18:30-21:30 at the Beijing Hotel.

  • EU Nationals and Student Funding in Scotland

    Scottish Government has announced that EU students who are studying a course of Higher Education at university in Scotland in 2018-2019 have been granted free tuition for the duration of their course. This means that eligible EU students will continue to have access to free tuition, including tuition fee support from the Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS). SAAS will assess applications against existing eligibility criteria, and will provide funding in the normal way.

    Eligible EU students enrolling September 2017 have already been granted free tuition for the duration of their course. This update confirms that the guarantee already in place for eligible EU students enrolling this year (2017-2018) will be extended to those beginning their studies the following academic year (2018-2019).   • Top in the UK - 100 percent for overall student satisfaction

    UWS rated top in the UK in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2016*

    *UWS was rated as top in the UK for a number of undergraduate degree courses in terms of Overall Student Satisfaction in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2016. The following undergraduate courses were rated at 100% for Overall Student Satisfaction:

    • Aircraft Engineering
    • Community Education
    • Forensic Science
    • Midwifery
    • Sport & Exercise Science

    In addition, our Chemical Engineering course was rated top in Scotland and 3rd in the UK, and our Education, Psychology and our Drama-related courses were rated top in Scotland for Overall Student Satisfaction. Other highly rated courses were Politics which was rated 2nd in Scotland, as well as our Applied Biosciences, Chemistry and Civil Engineering courses.

    The results of the NSS 2016 (87.1% Overall Satisfaction) places UWS 48th out of 119 UK HE insitutions for student satisfaction which is a significant rise of 16 places from the previous year.

    For ease, you can pay your tuition amd accommodation fees for UWS using our online payment facility by either debit or credit card.

    We request a deposit of £3500 prior to CAS for all applicants to Scottish Campuses and London Research applicants, with the balance to be paid at time of enrolment

    What's more, any member of your family or friends can make a payment on your behalf, should they wish.

    Proposed curbs on immigration announced by Home Secretary Amber Rudd could cause “severe and long-lasting damage” to Higher Education, the UWS Principal and Vice-Chancellor has warned. Professor Craig Mahoney raised his concerns after the Home Secretary unveiled plans to restrict students coming to the UK. Find out more.
