    Paying in Sterling (GBP)

    For ease, you can pay your tuition amd accommodation fees for UWS using our online payment facility by either debit or credit card.

    Students have the choice of making a one off-payment or can set up a recurring payment plan.

    What's more, any member of your family or friends can make a payment on your behalf, should they wish.

    Paying in your local currency in partnership with Western Union

    For international students wishing to pay tuition and accomodation fees in their local currency we are working in partnership with Western Union to provide you with a cost efective and simple way of paying. Pay now using Western Union.

  • Fees

    Tuition fees at University of the West of Scotland include all tuition, library, examination and administrative costs. Please download this PDF document of the tuition Fees for Scottish/EU-EEA/Non-EEA full-time and part-time students.

    Please note: Students on a course lasting more than one year should be aware that tuition fees are revised annually and may increase in subsequent years of study.

    If you are an international student looking to study at UWS, it is important to have a clear understanding of how much money you will need to cover the costs of tuition and living expenses.

    2016/17 Refund Policy Information

    Non‐refundable Deposits – International Students

    1.1 If you have received a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) from UWS and thereafter you decide not to take up your place a non-refundable fee of £500 will be retained by UWS.

    1.2 You will be eligible for a refund (less £500 fee) in the event that you have applied for a visa to study at UWS and this has been refused by the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) on the grounds of:
    • Fraudulent documentation submitted to UWS and/or UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI)
    • Omitting evidence pertaining to visa history for example curtailment notification from UKVI
    • An error on the part of the student for not submitting the required documents for visa application
    • Insufficiently prepared for credibility interview with UKVI
    You must provide the University with a copy of your visa refusal letter.

    Please be advised, the University will review each visa refusal on a case by case basis examining all of the facts before making an informed decision.
  • Scholarships

    Depending on your choice of study programme, the university may offer a partial scholarship.

    These scholarships are only available for Scottish Campus students.

    • UWS International Scholarship

      Eligibility:

      Self-funded (non-EU) students applying to UWS from the following regions: South Asia, East Asia & Australia, Middle East and Africa, Europe and CIS, Americas

      £2,000

    • UWS Merit-based Scholarship

      Eligibility:

      Full-time, full-fee paying (non-EU) students, who are studying undergraduate or postgraduate courses only. Aimed at students who have achieved academic excellence prior to applying to UWS. 

      Undergraduate: score of 65% or higher in High School/ Entry Qualification

      Postgraduate: score 69% or higher in undergraduate degree/diploma studies.

      Please note: Students studying MBA are not eligible for this scholarship.

      Scholarship Amount:

      £1,500

    • Progression Scholarship: 1st – 2nd year students

      Eligibility:

      1st year student at UWS maintaining a good attendance of 85% minimum and overall score of 69% or higher across modules in year 1.

    • Postgraduate Fee Offer

      Eligibility:

      Self-funded (non-EU) students who wish to progress from undergraduate to postgraduate study at UWS. Students must have successfully completed at least one year of undergraduate study with UWS.

      Scholarship Amount:

      10% discount will be deducted from overall tuition fees.

      How to apply:

      Once accepted offer of Postgraduate study at UWS, discount will be applied.

    • Early Payment Incentive: Tuition fees

      Eligibility:

      Self-funding (non-EU) paying Tuition fees full prior to, or on enrolment.

      Scholarship Amount:

      10% discount will be deducted from overall tuition fees.

    • International Research Excellence Scholarship

      Eligibility:

      Self-funding, full fee paying (non-EU) students offered a place on a full time research programme at UWS.

      Scholarship Amount:

      £3,500

      Please state on your research application that you are applying for an International Research Excellence Scholarship.

    • Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme

      Eligibility:

      You must hold a first degree at either first class or upper second level. You must be a national of a Commonwealth developing country and not living or studying in a developed country. You must be willing to return to your own country to work or study and will need to provide evidence of English Language ability e.g. IELTS certificate.

       The following programmes are eligible for the scholarship at our Scottish Campuses only for the academic year 2017-18:

      MSc Advanced Computer Systems Development
      MSc Waste and Resource Management
      MSc Biotechnology
      MSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management

    • Scotland’s Saltire Scholarship

      Eligibility:

      Open to Canadian, Chinese, Indian, Pakistan and US nationals. You must be able to demonstrate that you can meet the cost of living and the cost of the remaining tuition fees.

      £4,000

    • Aberdeen Asset Management/Japan Society of Scotland's Thomas Blake Glover Scholarship 2017 to Japan

      The Japan Society of Scotland offers a short travel scholarship, sponsored by Aberdeen Asset Management, to visit Japan. The visit provides a structured introduction to Japanese language and culture as a basis for future professional links. This opportunity provides a valuable aid for students of science, business or the arts to access these fields in Japan. 

      Candidate Profile:

      All candidates should:

      • Be of Scottish birth, descent or long-term residency in Scotland.
      • Be either in full-time higher education in the United Kingdom or a graduate of a British university of no more than five years standing.
      • Be able to articulate a defined interest in a professional field that relates to Japan, in which the study of Japanese language would be beneficial or necessary.
      • Have a sound academic record and demonstrate the potential to achieve excellent results.
      • Not be already engaged in a full-time Japanese programme of study.

    • Social Science 50th anniversary scholarship

      The School of Media, Culture & Society is delighted to announce a wide range of competitive scholarships which will be available to highly qualified and/or experienced applicants for many of its Masters courses for the academic session 2016/17 as we celebrate our 50th anniversary of delivering social science education in Paisley.

      We will have 28 scholarships available in total and these will be available to applicants on selected Masters courses (see more detail information on the scholarships).
