    Depending on your choice of study programme, the university may offer a partial scholarship.

    These scholarships are only available for Scottish Campus students.

  • Exclusive Scholarships offered by UWS

    • UWS - International Scholarship

       UWS aims to promote world class education to all students. To achieve this, the University offer the £2,000 International Scholarship, designed to assist self-funded (non-EU) students who are applying  from the following regions:

      South Asia (Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Nepal etc.)

      East Asia & Australia (China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Australia etc.)

      Middle East and Africa (Egypt, Sudan, UAE, Yemen, Iraq, Iran, Nigeria. Ghana etc.)

      Europe and CIS (Turkey, Spain, France, Germany, Russia, Uzbekistan etc.)

      Americas ( North and Latin America region)

    • UWS Merit-based Scholarship Awards for September 2016

      For 2016/17 intake, the University is offering a range of merit-based scholarships to full-time, full-fee paying international (non-EU) students. The scholarships are aimed at students who have achieved academic excellence prior to applying to UWS. We wish to recognise their achievements and UWS will reward these students with the Merit-Based Scholarship in addition to the International Scholarship.

      150 

      Eligibility
      Undergraduate:
      Scored 65% or higher in the High School/Entry Qualification required for admission.

      Postgraduate:
      (Excluding Research - Students for research please see International Research Excellence Scholarship):
      Scored 69% or higher in undergraduate degree/diploma studies.

      *Please note, students applying to our MBA course are not eligible for this scholarship.

    • Progression Scholarship: Undergraduate Year 1 to Year 2

      Award amount:
      £1,000 

      Number of Scholarships:
      25 

      Eligibility:
      1st year student at UWS maintaining a good attendance of 85% minimum and overall score of 69% or higher across modules in year 1 will be awarded a £1,000 scholarship in the second year of study. 

      Application procedure:
      You will need to complete an application form and attach your year 1 results.

    • Postgraduate Fee Offer (UWS Graduates progressing to postgraduate study)

      Award amount:
      10% discount on fees for self-funded (non-EU) international students who wish to progress from undergraduate to postgraduate study at UWS. In addition, you will also be entitled to a 10% Early Payment Incentive  if your tuition fees are paid in full prior to, or on enrolment, providing this is within one week of formal classes commencing.

      Eligibility:
      All full fee paying (non-EU) international students who have successfully completed at least one year of undergraduate study and are progressing to postgraduate study at UWS.

      Details of award:
      10% will be deducted from tuition fees on progression to postgraduate study.

      You will have accepted an offer of a place on a postgraduate programme at this University.

    • Overseas Discount (Accommodation)

      Award amount:

      10% accommodation fee reduction to first 175 non-EU students.

      Eligibility:

      The first 175 self-financing overseas (non-EU) students on a full-time programme are eligible to apply for a 10% Overseas Discount. The Overseas Discount applies to the cost of accommodation in the University's self-catering halls of residence or flats and does not apply to private accommodation outside the University. Students will not be entitled to a 'rebate' if they choose to move out of residences. Students must stay in University accommodation for 36 weeks of the academic calendar.

      The 10% reduction is subject to receipt of the application form and all University Terms and Conditions being met by the student.

    • International Research Excellence Scholarship

      Award amount:
      Full self-funded full fee paying students may be eligible for a £3,500 scholarship upon receipt of completed application with associated documentation. You may also be entitled to a further 10% Early Payment Incentive.

      Eligibility:
      Full fee paying self-funding (non-EU) international students. You must have applied for and been offered a place on a full time Higher Degree by research programme at the University. This scholarship cannot be combined with any other UWS scholarship.

      Details of award:
      A limited amount of awards will be available for specific research areas and will be granted on academic merit.

    • Social Science 50th anniversary scholarship

      The School of Media, Culture & Society is delighted to announce a wide range of competitive scholarships which will be available to highly qualified and/or experienced applicants for many of its Masters courses for the academic session 2016/17 as we celebrate our 50th anniversary of delivering social science education in Paisley.

      We will have 28 scholarships available in total and these will be available to applicants on selected Masters courses (see more detail information on the scholarships).

      Scholarships will be awarded based on evidence of qualifications and strength of your supporting personal statement.

    • Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme - Postgraduate study

      Award amount: 
      The scholarship will cover tuition fees, travel and living expenses. 

      Eligibility: 
      To be eligible for the scholarship, you must hold a first degree at either first class or upper second level. You must be a national of a Commonwealth developing country and not living or studying in a developed country. You must be willing to return to your own country to work or study and will need to provide evidence of English Language ability e.g. IELTS certificate.  

      Details of award:
      You must hold an unconditional offer of a place at postgraduate level at the University. Priority is given to subjects related to the economic, social and technological development of the student’s home country. In light of this, preference will be given to applicants applying to:

      • Advanced Computer Systems Development 
      • Biotechnology
      • Logistics and Supply Chain Management 
      • Music: Innovation and Entrepreneurship 
      • Project Management 
      • Psychology 
      • Waste and Clean Technologies

  • As part of its policy to support high quality students, the British government currently offers several categories of scholarship. Some of the main schemes are listed below. Most are tenable at any UK institution. We would encourage any candidate who feels that they might meet the criteria to make enquiries to the contact points included on this page.

     

  • External Scholarships (not administered by UWS)

    • Scotland’s Saltire Scholarship

      • Award amount:

        The scholarship amount is for £2,000 and can be awarded for one year of study on an undergraduate or postgraduate programme.

      • Eligibility:

        The scholarship opportunity is open to Canadian, Chinese, Indian and US nationals and is aimed at encouraging bright, talented and hard working individuals to live, work and study in Scotland. You must be able to demonstrate that you can meet the cost of living and the cost of the remaining tuition fees.

      • Details of award:

        The scholarships are designed to support the promotion of Scotland as a learning and science nation, and are therefore, targeted at the priority sectors of:

        • Creative industries
        • Life sciences
        • Technology
        • Financial services
        • Renewable and clean energy

        This includes a wide range of subjects across all of Scotland's universities and higher education institutions.

      • Application procedure:

        You must first apply to the University of the West of Scotland and then to the scholarship programme. The scholarship offer will be subject to obtaining a confirmed offer of admission from a Scottish university.

    • Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP)

      • Award amount:

        This varies depending on the award you are applying for.

      • Eligibility:

        Scholarships are offered to students from certain commonwealth countries. For details of which countries are participating, please see the CSFP website.

      • Details of award:

        The awards assist Commonwealth students of high calibre to study in other Commonwealth countries. Some countries prioritise certain areas of study. You will need to check what the priorities are in your home country before applying.

      • Application procedure:

    • British Marshall Scholarships

      • Award amount:

        University fees, cost of living expenses, annual book grant, thesis grant, research and daily travel grants, fares to and from the United States and, where applicable, a contribution towards the support of a dependent spouse.

      • Eligibility:

        High caliber students from the United States . Students should hold a first degree from an accredited 4-year college in the United States.

      • Details of award:

        40 awards available for students from the United States. Study can be in any discipline. Awards are tenable for 22 months. The scholarships are funded by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and administered in the UK by the Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission.
