Although living in Ayr, Dumfries, Hamilton or Paisley is considerably less expensive than other major towns and cities in the UK, you must have a clear idea of the likely cost of living and studying in the UK.

Students are strongly advised that in order to prevent financial hardship, you should not travel to the UK or begin a course of study without making sure that you have enough money to cover all your academic fees and living expenses (and be able to support any family dependents who come with you to the UK). It is virtually impossible to make arrangements for financial support once you have left your own country.

EU Countries

EU students are entitled to apply to the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) for help toward the cost of tuition fees as long as they plan to study at the University for at least a year and graduate at the end of their studies.

Please contact SAAS for further details:

Payment of Fees

It is possible for you, or any member of your family or friends, to pay for your tuition fees or University accommodation online by using the Online Payment facility. A guide to this facility is available from the Frequently Asked Questions section of the Finance web site.

Please visit the Finance section of the University website for details of alternative payment methods.

It's clear to see that studying at the University is great value for money and should be your first choice. And remember...a Scottish qualification is highly valued on the world market.

"The facilities at the University are very good. The Students' Union is a great place to socialise and to meet new friends. The Sports Centre is great. I am a member of both the volleyball and basketball clubs. The computing labs are excellent facilities within the University and, coupled with good teaching, I believe that this makes for an excellent learning environment.

I live in Thornly Park Halls of residence and there is a good community spirit there - I enjoy it very much.

I believe that I have developed my personal and interpersonal skills and have matured by meeting students from all over the world. I have benefited greatly from my experiences at Paisley."
