Executive Education and CPD
  • Executive education

We work in partnership with clients to boost individual and organisational performance. We have the ability and experience to develop, deliver and evaluate a wide range of complementary training and development programmes.

And because we select tutors who are experts in their field, clients are assured of consistently high quality management development.

We develop skills and competencies through:

    •  Open and bespoke courses
    •  High quality courses, run by experts
    •  Accredited provision
    •  Flexible content and delivery
    •  Competence or capability routes

Our training and development programmes are designed to match key and leading edge business trends and strategies. Our approach centres around ensuring both that delegates' and their sponsoring companies' expectations are met and that value for money is achieved. Evaluation of the training experience and its application back into the workplace form an integral part of this strategy.

Clients can attend our open courses or may prefer a bespoke programme delivered in house. Whatever the level of staff development our aim is to deliver practical and relevant programmes that further participants' personal development and increase their effectiveness at work.

UWS Business School also offers a range of postgraduate courses, many available on a part-time day, evening and distance learning mode - please follow the link to the UWS Business School for detailed information.

    Consultancy & Projects

UWS Business School has the expertise to undertake consultancy projects across a wide spectrum of human resource and general management issues. These range from training needs analysis to restructuring, and from psychometrics to bespoke training.

Our service, like our courses, can be tailored to meet organisations' individual needs - perhaps partnering with clients to identify priority areas for staff development and designing customised training solutions or, more simply, scheduling courses to address a skills gap the client has already identified.

    Graduate Placement and Training

Working closely with clients and partners such as Scottish Enterprise Ayrshire, the UWS Business School has run several graduate placement and training programmes. Typically, highly skilled graduates are placed in an organisation and clear objectives for the placement period are defined and agreed. The graduate benefits from both work experience and a structured development programme while the employer benefits from having a highly skilled graduate undertake a special project.

    Graduates into Smaller Companies

The Graduates into Smaller Companies programme was a joint European Regional Development Fund and Enterprise Ayrshire programme designed to develop smaller companies in Ayrshire. It bridged the skills gap that can hinder business development in small and medium sized businesses by matching such organisations with suitable graduates seeking to develop their work experience.

Graduates worked to a well-defined project plan with clear and realistic project goals and milestones. Following a training needs analysis, a personal training plan which aimed to develop their personal skills and to prepare them for effective performance in the business environment was developed for each graduate.

By joining the programme companies acquired a cost-effective additional resource to assist in the development of the business. Projects undertaken by these skilled graduates were typically focused on finding and developing new opportunities.

    Seminars

The UWS Business School runs regular seminars, many in partnership with other organisations, that are delivered by top quality speakers. These include Edward de Bono, the world-renowned creative thinker, as well as Giovanni Benedetti and Chris van der Kuyl, both innovative entrepreneurs.
  • What our clients say

It was a first class experience – I gained the skills and knowledge to understand the business dynamics and acquired the tools to undertake analysis and management of business issues. The prestigious MBA qualification is recognised globally and built on the business experience I had already gained with General Electric.
    William Cameron, European Six Sigma
Master black belt for GE Aviation Services
  • Participants have found this programme, which has been tailored to meet the National Health Service, extremely valuable as a first step on the management ladder. The delivery of the programme has been of the highest standard and the support offered to participants has been excellent. This has been a true partnership working process with the programme continuing to evolve to meet the needs of the NHS and the participants.
