Diploma in Public Service Leadership
The Diploma in Public Service Leadership was designed in partnership with public sector organisations, and is accredited and awarded by Chartered Management Institute (CMI). It is aimed at developing professional team leaders and managers within the public and voluntary sectors.
University of the West of Scotland was the first, and is the largest, provider of the Diploma nationally, delivering it in partnership with experienced public sector managers/trainers from Learning & Development Associates.

Who is the qualification for?
The Diploma is aimed at developing professional managers within the public and voluntary sector, and encouraging them to work more collaboratively. It is recognised at Level 9 on the Scottish Credit & Qualification Framework, and awarded 88 credit points by the Scottish Qualifications Authority.
The Diploma meets the accreditation requirement of the Scottish Social Services Council, for Registration purposes in terms of being a “an award in management that is certificated at or above SCQF Level 8 (minimum of 60 credits)". It is also a recognised qualification on the Fire Leadership Pathway for Scottish Fire and Rescue Services staff.
Funding
This programme is eligible for funding of up to £500 under the new Scottish 'Part Time Fee Grant'.

Please note: CMI will be changing this qualification in early 2012 and the credit value will decrease to approx 62 credits. Also, from 2012, Advanced Standing will no longer be offered to Scottish Fire Service candidates who hold the HNC in Watch Management.
