UWS Principal welcomes new students to UWS

09 Jan 2017

Professor Craig Mahoney, Principal and Vice-Chancellor, hosted a breakfast event at the University’s Paisley Campus on Monday 9 January 2017 to welcome new students to UWS.

This event gave new students from across UWS the chance to find out more about the wide range of things that are happening at the University.

Professor Mahoney said: “I was delighted to host this event, which gave me the opportunity to welcome our new students, in particular postgraduates and those on the Erasmus scheme, starting this January.

“I love meeting students and hearing about their hopes, dreams and ambitions and it was great to be able to chat with so many new students and let them know more about the exciting developments taking place at UWS.”

UWS has been identified as a great place to study by its high ratings in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2016, which saw five UWS courses – Aircraft Engineering, Community Education, Forensic Science, Sport and Exercise Science, and Midwifery - all come top in the UK for overall student satisfaction. The survey saw 100% of survey respondents studying these courses state that they were satisfied overall with their course.

Professor Mahoney added: “I am particularly keen for new students, especially those coming from overseas, to feel part of UWS as soon as they arrive.  I want them to be quickly introduced to the range of opportunities and support available to them to give them the best chance of success during their time with us. It is really important to us that everyone feels at home here and to know that they are, and will be throughout their time with us, fully supported and welcome.”
