UWS STUDENTS INVITED TO APPLY FOR PRESTIGIOUS MEDIA BURSARY SCHEME

17 February 2009

Students undertaking University of the West of Scotland’s postgraduate Broadcast Journalism course are being invited to apply for a prestigious bursary scheme.

The bursaries are being offered by the Scott Trust - owners of the Guardian Media Group.

University of the West of Scotland’s Graduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism is the only course in Scotland from which the trust is inviting applications.

Those awarded a bursary will be given an allowance of £5,000; have their fees paid; and will be guaranteed several weeks work experience with the Guardian Media Group.

The primary aim of these awards is to assist students who face financial difficulty in attaining the qualifications needed to pursue a career in the media.

Ewan Crawford, Programme Leader of University of the West of Scotland’s popular Graduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism, said: “This could be a great opportunity for those considering applying to the course this year and is evidence of the high regard in which the Graduate Diploma is held by those working in the broadcast journalism industry.”

Further information on the bursary scheme is available by emailing ewan.crawford@uws.ac.uk or visiting the Scott Trust website, http://www.gmgplc.co.uk/ScottTrust/
