Dr Carmen Domínguez, BA, MA, is a senior lecturer in Spanish at the University of Paisley. She is a Hispanist with a special interest in Contemporary Hispanic Women Authors and gender issues. A graduate of the University of El País Vasco, in Spain with degrees in Journalism and in Hispanic Philology, she was awarded an MA in Spanish and Latin American Literature at the University of Cincinnati (Ohio) in 1988 where she also obtained her PhD (1994). Her research has focused in recent years on novelist and poet Cristina Peri Rossi. She has written extensively about Peri Rossi and papers dealing with this author at international conferences. Her book on Cristina Peri Rossi, La subversión del discurso autoritario en la narrativa de Cristina Peri Rossi was published in 2000 by University Press of the South, New Orleans (USA). She is researching gender issues on Spanish cinema, in particular the representation of women on films on the Spanish Civil War.
