Ewa Helinska-Hughes is a Lecturer in Economics and Management based in the Centre with special interests in FDI, regional policy and institutional development in Central and Eastern Europe, particularly Poland. After graduating from Warsaw University with an MA in Political Economy, she was a lecturer at Warsaw Technical University (Institute of Economics and Social Sciences) and a Fellow of the Salzburg seminar. Moving to Scotland in 1989, she has taught at the University of Stirling and was a Research Fellow in the European Policy Research Centre at the University of Strathclyde until her appointment at the Centre for Contemporary European Studies at Paisley in 1999. Current research projects focus on Central and Eastern Europe and include a comparative study of entrepreneurship and SME support as elements of regional restructuring. The most recent research project investigates C&EE migration and focuses on Polish migrants and Polish migrant businesses in Scotland.
