Dr Fernando León-Solís lectures in Spanish at the University of Paisley and his research expertise falls in the field of Cultural Studies, with a special focus on the construction of Spanish and Catalan identities in the Spanish media. He graduated in English Language and Literature at Granada University in Spain and was later awarded a PhD at Glasgow Caledonian University in 2001. Dr León-Solís has presented a number of papers in international conferences dealing with Spanish issues and has published extensively in the academic literature. In 2002 he was the programme organiser of the Annual Conference of Iberian Studies held in Valencia. His first book (partially based on his PhD thesis) is titled Negotiating Spain: Competing Discourses of National Identity and was published in 2003 by Intellect.
