Assessment
The University of the West of Scotland Assessment Policy complements its Learning, Teaching and Assessment Strategy
The policy focusses on purposes, principles and guidelines for assessment. Amongst other features it considers links between assessment and intended learning outcomes, gives guidelines on the quantity of assessed work and looks at the design of assessment in the context of enhancement and quality assurance. The desired criteria for robust academic standards and the management of these standards are set out and reviewed. There is also a major section on providing clear guidance to students on assessment tasks, and guidelines for staff on providing effective feedback on assessment. Links to related teaching and learning issues such as curriculum design, e-learning and enabling support are provided elsewhere on this site.
Further information can be found in the Assessment handbook for staff.
