Personal Development Planning (PDP)
Personal (and Professional) Development Planning is now embedded in all programs at the University of the West of Scotland. The University is using an e-Portfolio model based on the pedagogy developed in ISLE and on the Blackboard e-Portfolio Tool. The University led the development of e-portfolios across 10 Scottish FE and HE institutions through the ISLE project.
There is considerable literature, including numerous examples, of PDP practice across the College and University sectors in the UK. The Centre for Recording Achievement has consistently championed PDP and is actively engaged in new developments, such as sponsoring the national ePortfolio network.
The new UWS policy on PDP came into force in 2008.
This Signpost & Guide provides an introduction to personal development planning and ePortfolios within the context of ‘reflective learning’.
