British Computer Society
The School has been recognised for its academic excellence by the British Computer Society (BCS) who have accreditied almost all of the School's undergraduate programmes.
One of BCS's responsibilities under its Royal Charter is to develop and maintain standards in educational qualifications that provide an appropriate foundation for those who wish to follow a career in computing or information systems. As part of this responsibility the BCS undertakes a programme of visits to universities and other Higher Education Institutions to review computing degree courses and HNDs.
Courses can gain exemption from the BCS Professional Examinations thereby providing a route to Society Membership. Additionally, as a Nominated Body of the Engineering Council UK and the Science Council the BCS is licensed to accredit courses at Chartered or Incorporated Engineer and Chartered Scientist level.
