Student Guidance
As part of the University's Guidance Policy, all students have a Personal Tutor assigned to them.
Personal Tutor System
The Personal Tutor can deal directly with your concerns or encourage you to take the matter to the appropriate section of the University's Student Services. It is also recommended that you see your Personal Tutor at least twice each semester.
A meeting following the publication of the first semester exam results, may allow your Personal Tutor to make recommendations to help you with your studies in the second semester (for example, if necessary to obtain additional study support through the Centre for Learning and Teaching or additional remedial support from one of the lecturers).
If you are having difficulty with your programme, the Personal Tutoring System offers you someone to discuss your problems with and someone who can offer academic advice and support. This is particularly important in the early years of your academic study.
Open Door Policy
In addition to formal mechanisms, the School of Computing operates an open door policy to assist all students with difficulties. In this respect staff are frequently available to meet you and help resolve your academic and developmental problems/issues.
