Jennifer Ellis

Teaching Career

Prior to joining the University of the West of Scotland, Jennifer taught in the primary sector for eight years. Much of this teaching was in early years.

Current Teaching and Management Commitments

Management responsibilities include holiding the position of B.Ed. Programme Leader and membership of the B.A. Childhood Studies management team. 

Predominantly, Jennifer’s teaching is in the area of early years, specifically early language and literacy.  She co-ordinates several modules, including B.Ed2 Contexts for Learning, B.Ed3 Humanities and B.A. Childhood Studies Communication and Literacy modules; she also contributes to School and Professional Studies modules in both B.Ed and PGDE (Primary) courses.  She is a school experience tutor for B.Ed and PGDE programmes.

Jennifer is an external examiner on the B.Ed programme at the University of Dundee.

Research and Scholarly Interests

Scholarly interests include the development of language and literacy in early childhood, and children’s literature.
