Walter Humes
Background
Walter joined the University of Paisley in April 2006 as Research Professor in Education. He was previously Director of Research and Professor of Education in the School of Education , University of Aberdeen . In the course of his career he has also served as Head of the Departments of Educational Studies in both Strathclyde and Glasgow Universities . His research interests cover teacher education, educational leadership and management, policy studies and history of education. Along with Professor T.G.K. Bryce, he co-edited Scottish Education – 2 nd edition: Post-Devolution (Edinburgh University Press, 2003), a 1000-page volume covering all aspects of the Scottish educational system. As well as being a frequent presenter at academic conferences, he receives regular invitations to give keynote addresses to professional organizations and public bodies. He also writes a polemical column for The Times Educational Supplement Scotland.
