"A creative route to Sustainable Development"
Research projects:
- Aesthetic, structural & ecological properties of industrial by-products
This research is a PhD project being undertaken by Yve Christie (researcher) and Prof. Peter Tucker (supervisor), supported through an Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) Doctoral award.
This project focus is materials research and application into product design, architecture and industry as a creative route to sustainable development through raising awareness of the environmental, economic and aesthetic value available through the re-use of industrial by-product and the conservation of natural resources. The aim is collaboration across the disciplines of science and art to provide new creative approaches to waste reduction and reuse. This project researches the issues associated with specific types of waste, for example - paper mill de-inking sludge (which arises as a by-product of paper recycling).
