Brain image ScanWe have links with "local" schools and are very keen to strengthen these. We currently offer:

  • Practical experiments/workshops in our undergraduate laboratories for classes at 4th, 5th and 6th years. These include our annual radioactivity labs, but can also be custom designed to suit your needs and scheduled at other times of the year - subject to staff and equipment availability.
  • Visits to schools to provide short talks/demonstrations on various aspects of Physics. The currently available presentation is:

"Picture this - images from across the spectrum." An overview of images produced by a wide range of devices and different wavelengths, including electron microscopes, infrared cameras, X-rays, telescopes and satellites. Speaker: Dr. Judith Steven-Setchel.

  • In-service and continuing professional development courses related to physics and physics teaching.
  • Open days and visits to the university for demonstrations and presentations on a range of topics.
  • Development of multimedia teaching materials aimed at Higher level.
