Facilities

Enhanced teaching environments and the mix of practical and theoretical elements of our courses ensures students are prepared for the demands of the profession.

Paisley Campus – recent £2.5 million investment in new nursing and midwifery classrooms, lecture theatres and skills labs with simulated ward settings.

Ayr Campus – students benefit from hands-on experience in the campus’ nursing skills labs, which allow them to put learning into practice in a simulated ward setting and review their performance through the labs’ CCTV system.

Hamilton Campus – resources include a suite of artificial simulated environments with contemporary healthcare technology, where
students learn nursing practice in a realistic context. The unpredictability of patient symptoms are mimicked using sophisticated software in a clinical ward ranging from a low dependency bed; and medium-dependency bed; to a high-dependency bed with life-support facilities. Midwifery students’ equipment includes a birthing room with child birth simulator and a birthing pool for simulated water births.

Dumfries Campus – major refurbishment in early 2006 of campus facilities saw creation of new resources in artificial healthcare
environments, healthcare technology and software for students.
