Answer -
Your User name is your banner ID and your password if you haven’t already logged into a pc before is your date of birth as a 6 character password. You may also want to check that the CAPS lock is not on, passwords can be case-sensitive.
Try logging onto another pc if there’s another one available to rule out the possibility that it is your account that is the problem. If you’re still not able to log in contact the ICT Service Centre via telephone x3999, by email helpdesk@uws.ac.uk or in person at the Reception desk on Paisley campus in Jblock.
Question - I can't access Self Service Banner at home to check my results.
Answer -
Self-Service Banner is only available on campus.
Question - I can log into Blackboard but I can't see my module.
Answer -
Contact your Lecturer or course leader as they are responsible for making sure that you are added to their modules.
Question - Can I get software from the University to use at home?
Answer -
Yes, you can purchase a copy through the Microsoft Campus Agreement with Viglen follow the link for Microsoft HE/FE Student Select Agreement
Question - Why can I not use my Mobile Phone in the Open Access areas?
Answer -
The open access area is for students to work on coursework. It is distracting constantly listening to mobile ringtones and others having conversations on their phones.
Question - Can I use my USB device?
Answer -
You can connect USB flash drives/Pen drives to save work and transfer files and folders from pc to pc. Privately owned equipment (USB keys etc) are connected at the owner’s risk to University machines. The University will not accept liability arising from such connections (lost data/damage to usb drive etc). Remember, always back up important files to your Home Directory.
Question - Can I connect headphones to the pc?
Answer -
Yes, headphones can be used in the labs, you can borrow headphones from us. Hand over your banner card and we will hand over the headphones.
Question - Can I play games on the pc?
Answer -
No games may be played on the pcs in the Open Access areas. These pcs are intended for work purposes only.
Question - Can I listen to music?
Answer -
The pcs in the Open Access area do not have sound enabled, however, feel free to use your ipods/mp3 players with headphones.
