For now, there is no wireless hotspot in the Caird or Beckford buildings.

The University of the West of Scotland provide a free wireless network for use by both students and staff.

The network provides up to 54 mbps Internet access for Mac or PC laptops.

Accessing the Wireless Network at Hamilton Campus

Firstly, and most importantly, you must have a wireless network card, the card must be set to obtain a DHCP IP number, and not have a static number entered.

If you have this set, go to one of the wireless hotspots and open up your network setting to display available networks.

The University’s wireless network is called public. Connect to the public network.

After connection, open your web browser.  You will then be redirected to the login page.  For the username and password please email helpdesk@uws.ac.uk from your UWS student email account.

The username and password will change in future to match your normal student login.  After login, you will be redirected to the University home page.  You can now browse to any other site.

If you have any problems connecting, please contact the ICT Services situated on the second floor of the Almada building, room 212.
