ECDL Advanced
What is ecdl advanced?
ECDL Advanced is a higher-level programme designed for those who have successfully reached ECDL skills levels and wish to further enhance their computer proficiency. The ECDL Advanced modules are operated by the School of Computing and are SCQF level 7 modules, each carrying 15 cat credits. The modules are offered on a distance learning basis.
What are the benefits of ECDL advanced?
The ECDL Advanced modules give candidates the opportunity to become expert in the use of the 4 Microsoft applications, acquiring skills sets over and above the routine features of the software.
ECDL Advanced Candidates can demonstrate that they are:
- Organised and efficient
- More productive
- Capable of confidently exploiting the full potential of the applications
- Expert at producing attractive, professional-quality outputs
The ECDL Advanced qualification is:
- Internationally-recognised
- A demonstration of certified advanced skills
- Backed by the reputation of the ECDL certification
- A route to Associate Membership of the British Computer Society.
How does ECDL Advanced work?
ECDL Advanced consist of four modules each of which has a test.
- ECDL Advanced Word Processing
- ECDL Advanced Databases
- ECDL Advanced Presentations
- ECDL Advanced Spreadsheets
Those successfully completing the 4 ECDL Advanced modules are eligible for the ECDL Expert Certificate.
How and when are the ECDL Advanced modules offered?
ECDL Advanced is offered on a distance learning basis with normally 4 intakes per year.
Testing can take place at any of the University's campuses (subject to appropriate numbers). Tests may also be undertaken at an approved external test centre, however an additional fee will be charged by the independent test centre for each test.
How much does ECDL Advanced cost?
ECDL Advanced is offered at a special rate of £50 per module by the University.
