Profile

Ronnie Bergman is currently lecturer in Broadcast Journalism and Digital Audio Production on the Hamilton Campus.  He keeps contact with the industry and its methods and recently experienced a “work placement” in the newsrooms of Bauer Group and G.M.G. [Clyde; Real, Smooth & Real XS] in Glasgow.  He has active links with community stations, in particular acting as liaison between Celtic Music Radio and our students, encouraging them to participate in their programmes, especially during the ‘Celtic Connections’ festival around Glasgow.  He also has a wide ranging radio production background in commercial radio and as one-off programme producer for BBC entertainment.  He also contributed to single events coverage for television sports’ departments.

Ronnie was a Director of the Broadcast Journalism Training Council, as well as continuing to represent the University at plenary meetings of the Council.  He’s a member of the Radio Academy and attends regular conferences and Festivals organised by the Academy.   He also recently attended the New York Festival Radio Awards Ceremony in his capacity as Member of their Grand Jury.

The modules [courses] developed by him are based on first hand connection with radio newsrooms, their demands and needs.  The students are asked to perform in simulated Newsday in real time and to a specific audience profile, which is reflected across all modules.
