Research and Evaluation
The Alcohol and Drug Studies teaching staff are currently involved in a number of research and evaluation activities. These are usually carried out in collaboration with local, national and international partners and reflect the expertise and interests of individual staff members.
Current areas of interest include: evaluation of drug and alcohol services; motivation and behaviour change processes; therapist characteristics; online educational delivery; training professional workers; mental health and substance use; and the impact of addiction on families.
The Alcohol and Drug Studies are currently undertaking research on behalf of Renfrewshire Council. The project will evaluate the combined Renfrewshire Social Work Department and NHS drug treatment services available to young people and their families. Our staff will assist local services in implementing the recommendations of the study.
Alcohol and Drug Studies have recently been commissioned by the Argyll and Clyde Health Board, funded by the European Regeneration Fund, to gather information on alcohol misuse in the Inverclyde area. Research findings will inform the ADAT strategy and a local community plan in Argyll and Clyde.
Research and evaluation proposals from external bodies are welcomed. Please contact us with your research and evaluation proposals.
