Morag Faulds Lecture

Using Critical Reflection to Understand Practice, Monday 22 June 2009

Jan Fook is currently Director of the Interprofessional Institute with the SouthWest London Academic Network and Professor of Professional Practice Research. Most recently she was Head of the Division of Social Work Studies (University of Southampton), and until 2006 Director of the Centre for Professional Development (La Trobe University, Australia) where she conducted workshops in critical reflection across the health and welfare professions. She regularly gives keynote addresses, seminars and workshops in the Nordic and countries, the UK, Canada and Asia.

Her work includes critical reflection, critical social work, professional practice and research. Throughout the course of her career, she has been keenly involved in developing social work education, particularly using innovative and reflective methods, and also has experience teaching practice skills and field education. Her research work involves the empirical research of professional practice, and developing better methods for representing the complexity of this.

She has published 12 books and over 70 book chapters and articles.
