Enabling Support

Assistive Technology

Assistive technology is hardware or software used by people with disabilities, or learning difficulties, which enables them to carry out tasks that would otherwise be difficult or impossible.

Software can include screen readers and magnifiers, literacy support, text to speech, voice recognition and mind mapping - all of which provide the student with support during their studies.

Hardware can range from portable magnifiers and voice recorders to height adjustable desks, ergonomic seating and Braille embossers.
