Disability Legislation
In 2001, the Special Educational Needs and Disability Act (SENDA) extended the Disability Discrimination Act to cover the educational provision of Higher Education Institutions. SENDA was incorporated as Part 4 of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).
The Act requires that Higher Education Institutions and staff in HEIs do not discriminate against disabled people in the provision they offer, from admissions through to graduation.
