Advice and Support
Enabling Support staff provide advice and support to students with disabilities and to staff who support students with disabilities. Support covers many areas including:
- providing general advice and information
- help with disability assessments
- help in preparing and submitting Disabled Student Allowance (DSA) claims for funding for many support mechanisms
- help in notifying academic staff to a student's needs and advising academic staff in ways to provide that support
- help with special arrangements for exams
- demonstrations and use of specialist software or equipment designed to help those with disabilities
- Dyslexia support
- arranging campus parking for Orange/Blue Badge holders
- help with accommodation
- help with physical access problems
- help with liaison with other external agencies
The Enabling Support team is also represented on the Working Group of the SUCCEEDS project whose aim is to provide work experience for students with disabilities.
