student mental health crisiS procedures
The Counselling Service is a key contributor to the University’s Student Mental Wellbeing Strategy Implementation Group. The SMWSI Group has responsibility for developing a range of initiatives, including those that may assist you in promoting and supporting the mental wellbeing of the students with whom you work.
One recent initiative is the development of Student Mental Wellbeing Crisis Intervention Procedures. Crisis situations happen rarely in practice. However, the guidelines will assist you in responding to any cases that do arise, and in turn help to ensure that the University’s duty of care is exercised consistently and sensitively.
A training package to raise awareness of student mental health and to introduce the Crisis Procedures has been developed, and is currently being offered to members of staff.
