Employability Link

Job Shop

Many students work while pursuing their studies.  As well as being useful financially, part time work can also give students experience which can help to develop their employability and with getting a graduate job.

In recognition of this we established a job shop in September 2008 which

  • Finds part time and summer work opportunities with a range of businesses and other organisations and advertises these to students.
  • Gives advice to students on finding part time and temporary work
  • Gives advice on related issues such as the minimum wage and work/study balance.
  • Operates the Student Pool through which students can register for short term work opportunities that arise within the University
  • Liaises with University Staff interested in recruiting students from the Student Pool for temporary work needs of the Department/School

The Job Shop service can be found in the Employability Link (J105) on Paisley Campus, at Student Services on Ayr, Dumfries and Hamilton campuses and also online.
