New Scientist Careers Guide 2011
Students take the Lead in build-up to 2014
by Chris Irving (Fourth year BA (Hons) Sports Journalism student)
It may still be three years away but Glasgow and the University of the West of Scotland are already gearing up for Glasgow 2014.
UWS has teamed up with Sport Scotland and Youth Sport Trust to encourage students to get involved in the Commonwealth Games while equipping them with skills that will help them stand out when entering the job market.
The first event was held on Wednesday March 30 at the Thornly Park Sport facility to showcase and promote the new programme and to celebrate the university’s exciting relationship with Glasgow 2014.
Right at the heart of the event is UWS careers advisor, Nigel Royle who is responsible for setting the wheels in motion and initially getting the university involved in this ambitious and dynamic programme.
