we can assist academic staff with the following:

  • Advice on building employability skills into teaching with reference to QAA code of practice on CEIG and the Employability Enhancement theme.
  • Class careers talks to students about career options, career planning skills and job searches.
  • Assistance to lecturers who deliver career related material or regularly receive enquiries from students on career issues.
  • Input to personal development planning modules or activities.
  • Referral of employers who are interested in offering input to particular courses.
  • Support the development of new placement and work based learning opportunities.
  • Assistance with delivering subject specific careers events.
  • Act as a referral point for students unclear about their options.
  • We can provide information on Student Destinations based on the annual survey of University of the West of Scotland graduates 6 months after completing their course. This information is also available on the intranet under UWS Graduate Destinations (DLHE).

SHR will explore how Employability skills have been embedded and used across programmes and how graduate attributes, including those relating to Employability, are effectively promoted (UWS Academic Office SHR handbook 2009/10).   • Referral of employers you have contact with who may be interested in recruiting students. We can circulate vacancies on our on line vacancy management system
  • A dialogue with you regarding careers for graduates from your discipline
  • Opportunities to talk to students at various stages as part of programmes to publicise information on events or job opportunities specific to your discipline
  • The opportunity to post discipline specific careers information on Blackboard where this is used.
