If you are an international student at the University of the West of Scotland, the International Student Advisers can help with:

  • Student visa extensions
  • Immigration advice
  • Visas for travel outside the UK
  • Advice on working in the UK (during and after your studies)
  • Letters for relatives’ visits
  • Financial queries (funding sources, student support, fees, student hardship, private trusts and charities, Student's Association Emergency Hardship Fund)
  • Welfare and health benefits; Council Tax
  • General welfare (personal difficulties, social events for international students, HOST)
  • Other sources of help within and outside the University, plus useful websites

If you need urgent advice and the International Student Advisers are not available, visit the UKCISA (UK Council for International Student Affairs) website.

From this site you can download UKCISA’s Information Sheets which give advice on all important areas of concern to international students studying in the UK.

If you need to speak to someone for advice, call the UKCISA international student advice line in London on:

020 7107 9922 open Monday to Friday 1-4pm

UKCISA professional international student advisers are there to help you with any matter. The service is free - you pay only for the call.

Got a Quick Question to ask Student Services International Team? 

Why not come along to a lunchtime "Quick Question Session" with a member of the Team?  Sessions are at 1pm most weekdays in the Student Link in J Block Level 2.  Ask at reception for more details.

Appointments are normally available Monday to Friday but this may vary outwith term time.
