Lanarkshire’s innovative new learning environment confirmed

The University has agreed a partnership with South Lanarkshire Council to deliver the 38-acre ultra-modern campus at Hamilton International Technology Park (HITP), just two miles from the existing UWS site in Hamilton. Construction work is due to begin in November this year with the first UWS students expected to move in by 2018.

The UWS-Oxfam partnership is delighted to invite you to this special policy forum event, ‘The Sustainability Challenge’. The event will see Graeme Maxton, Secretary General of the Club of Rome, an organisation which promotes understanding of, and responses to, the global challenges facing humanity, presenting the latest Report to the Club ‘Reinventing Prosperity: Managing economic growth to reduce unemployment, inequality and climate change’.

  • Top in the UK - 100 percent for overall student satisfaction

    UWS rated top in the UK in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2016*

    *UWS was rated as top in the UK for a number of undergraduate degree courses in terms of Overall Student Satisfaction in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2016. The following undergraduate courses were rated at 100% for Overall Student Satisfaction:

    • Aircraft Engineering
    • Community Education
    • Forensic Science
    • Midwifery
    • Sport & Exercise Science

    In addition, our Chemical Engineering course was rated top in Scotland and 3rd in the UK, and our Education, Psychology and our Drama-related courses were rated top in Scotland for Overall Student Satisfaction. Other highly rated courses were Politics which was rated 2nd in Scotland, as well as our Applied Biosciences, Chemistry and Civil Engineering courses.

    The results of the NSS 2016 (87.1% Overall Satisfaction) places UWS 48th out of 119 UK HE insitutions for student satisfaction which is a significant rise of 16 places from the previous year.
