Examination Clashes
If you find that two of your exams are scheduled to take place on the same day and at the same time, please contact the Examinations Unit immediately, in person via the Student Link reception on the 2nd floor of J Block (Paisley campus), or by telephone on 0141 848 3857, or by email at examinations@uws.ac.uk, in order that alternative arrangements can be made.
All notifications of exam clashes must be received by the Exams Unit no later than Friday 16th December 2011. It may not be possible for alternative arrangements to be made for any student who fails to inform the Exams Unit by this date.
Appealing against an assessment board’s decision
You have the right to appeal against Subject Panel or Progression and Award Board decisions under certain circumstances after you have received official notification of your results. The University Appeals Regulations, policy, form and guidance can be accessed here and are also available in paper copy from the University Library and the Student Link on each campus.
ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPTS
Current and future employers may ask students to provide a detailed record of their academic achievements. This information is provided by the University in an academic transcript.
Information for current students
If you are a current student at the University and you simply wish to view your module results, this can be done by logging in to Student Self Service Banner. From Self Service, you will be able to print out the approved module results from the current academic session.
Module results for students currently studying at UWS will not be available until approved by the Subject Panels. Subject panels meet at the end of each trimester. Details of students’ eligibility for an award or for progression to the next stage of their programme will not be available until after the Progression and Awards Boards (PABs) have met. For most programmes, PABs meet in June and September.
Who can obtain an Academic Transcript ?
We can provide academic transcripts for the majority of taught programmes from UWS and from its predecessor institutions (University of Paisley; Bell College of Technology; and Paisley College of Technology.)
Transcripts which relate to study undertaken prior to 1992 have to be compiled manually, and may contain less detail than those relating to more recent programmes of study.
How do I apply for an Academic Transcript ?
Transcripts can be requested in person at the Student Link information point on any of the University campuses. Alternatively you can complete an Academic Transcript application form, which should be returned by e-mail to Student Administration on any campus or by post to the Student Records Office, University of the West of Scotland, Paisley, PA1 2BE.
How long will it take ?
We aim to provide the transcript within 5 working days after receipt of the application form., although transcripts relating to study prior to 1992 which have to be prepared manually may take longer.
Please note that at certain times of the year, especially during graduation and enrolment, the production of the transcripts may take longer due to the large number of requests received at these times.
Where should I collect it ?
Current students should collect their transcripts from the Student Link information point on their campus. In exceptional circumstances, current students can request for the transcript to be posted to them.
Transcripts for former students will generally be sent by post, unless you request to collect the transcript from the Student Link at one of the university campuses.
How much will it cost ?
There is no charge for the production of the academic transcript or for postage by second class postage to a UK address or by international standard airmail postage to addresses outwith the UK. If you require the transcript to be posted via alternative postal services, you may be asked to pay any additional cost incurred.
