Internationalisation

Internationalisation

Internationalisation is an important aspect of the work we do at UWS. Indeed, we aim for our graduates to be globally relevant with comprehensively applicable abilities, skills and behaviours (UWS Graduate attributes 2018).

Some resources that may be useful in thinking about internationalisation in relation to your practice are:

  • The UWS Global Reach Enabling Plan (2014) sets out the university’s ambition for 2020 in relation to embedding internationalisation across the university.

  • The Higher Education Academy’s (HEA) toolkit on internationalisation which aims to support universities to prepare 21st century graduates to live in and contribute responsibly to a globally interconnected society.

  • A Global perspectives audit tool produced by Glasgow Caledonian University is useful for those involved in teaching and the support of learning. It encourages reflection on the internationalisation of programmes with consideration of: curriculum design and content, learning and teaching activities and assessment practices.

  • The Higher Education Academy’s transnational education toolkit is aimed at those delivering UK degree awards transnationally and explores themes including: quality assurance, logistics of TNE teaching, teaching, learning and assessment and relationship building.
