
Dr Iain McLellan, CEnv

Dr Iain McLellan first attended the University of Paisley, now UWS, in 2001 as a mature student gaining a First Class BSc (Hons) Earth Sciences with Chemistry in 2005, followed by a part-time PhD in 2012. After graduating, Dr McLellan worked for the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, and UK and Scottish third sector organisations working on environmental policy. In 2015 he returned to UWS as a Lecturer in Environmental Sciences and is based within the School of Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences. In 2018 he became a Programme Leader, and in January 2020 was promoted to Senior Lecturer. During his time at the University he has been Co-Chair of the Early Career Researchers’ Forum (now the UWS Staff Forum for Research), has sat on the Self-Assessment Team for the University’s recent submission to Athena SWAN and sits on the UWS LGBT+ Staff group, Liberty.
Dr McLellan is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and a Member of both the Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES) and the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). Through the IES he achieved Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) status in 2020. He Co-Chairs the Scottish Air Quality Expert Advisory Group, and is a Trustee of Environmental Protection Scotland and the Ayr Amateur Opera Company.
