James is currently employed at UWS and is the Assistant Dean (Education) for the School of Engineering and Computing. James is a former graduate of Paisley College of Technology at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels and has an extensive 30 year career in the engineering field. During his career at Paisley he has taken a lead role in developing the engineering, and more recently computing, portfolios now delivered by the School. James is determined to ensure that students entering courses offered by UWS will have a contemporary, innovative educational experience that will ensure they are equipped to meet the challenges and opportunities they will face as graduates of UWS.
As well as extensive educational experience in the HE sector, James has worked on numerous consultancy and research projects covering a broad range of engineering areas. James has particular expertise in Composite Materials as well as Computational Mechanics and Analysis.
James is also an active contributor to the development and direction of engineering and education and has served on numerous committees and working groups over his career, including Senate.
