COVID-19 GUIDANCE - MAY 2022
In line with Scottish and UK Government guidance, we are entering a new phase and approach to managing Covid-19, with many government restrictions being withdrawn or altered, and a renewed focus on ‘Covid Sense’ – taking sensible steps to reduce the risk of harm from Covid.
UWS will continue to proactively engage with Scottish Government, Public Health Scotland and local health boards on government guidance, and will update protocols accordingly, should things change.
The following guidelines will remain in place at UWS until August 2022, with a review taking place ahead of Term 1 of the 2022/23 academic year.
Face coverings
In line with Scottish Government guidance, we recommend that staff and students give due consideration to the wearing of face masks in communal areas, and that all members of the UWS community fully respect those who wish to continue to wear a face covering on campus.
Hygiene
Existing measures around hand sanitiser, self-clean stations and a focussed cleaning regime will remain in place, with the continued provision of hand sanitiser products across all UWS campuses and facilities. We strongly encourage staff and students to maintain regular self-cleaning of workstations and study spaces.
Physical distancing
In line with Scottish Government guidance, timetabled events for Term 3 (AY 21/22) and any formal or informal on-campus activities, will no longer require physical distancing.
When scheduling activities, timetabling will continue to ensure there is some additional capacity within rooms, to allow space for anyone who may wish to physically distance.
If you have symptoms
If you have symptoms
Free Covid-19 testing has now ended for most people in Scotland. Testing remains for specific groups in order to protect highest risk settings and support clinical care.
If you have symptoms of Covid, you should inform your line manager or course leader, at your earliest convenience, follow the normal absence reporting arrangements, and work remotely if possible.
Ventilation
UWS will continue to engage with Scottish Government guidance regarding the monitoring of CO2 levels across campuses, with a focus on key identified areas and additional spot checks periodically, and where appropriate. Window opening will be encouraged, especially in enclosed spaces, and those without mechanical ventilation.
